About Stuart Shore
A meaningful connection with today’s generation of teens.
A state licensed, nationally certified professional counselor specializing in therapeutic solutions for teens and coaching strategies for parents, my practice reflects advanced education, specialized training, and experience working with diverse families in various settings. My combined experience as a therapist, school counselor, and facilitator for Parenting The Love and Logic Way™ provide my clients a wide range of strategies.
I've been immersed in teen and tween life for the last two decades. Having worked with thousands of students, I genuinely understand the dynamic landscape on which, kids live, learn, work, and play. That vantage point enables me to relate to teens and help them resolve a variety of problems using practical, real-world solutions.
Workplace Experience
My career spans a variety of educational settings, levels, and specializations in therapy, wellness, and education. With 25-years of service as a K-12 public school counselor, my most recent school counselor position was at a Blue Ribbon Public Middle School in Montgomery County, PA where I managed a 300-plus student caseload. At the center of student life, I played a pivotal role guiding the emotional wellness and scholastic achievement of a large student body facing a variety of life challenges.
In 2021, I retired from my position as a school counselor to work at my therapy practice fulltime.
My experience as public a school counselor provides clients access to a wealth of practical educational and therapeutic strategies. Trained as an Independent Facilitator for Parenting the Love and Logic Way™, I pair my years of experience working directly with parents with a leading national parenting program to teach parents techniques that continue to prove successful.
My career highlights also include mental skills training with athletes, teams, coaches, and adult clients. I have facilitated goal-setting, team building, and effective communication workshops for high school and collegiate athletic teams. In addition, I coached basketball for over a decade at the high school varsity, middle school, and elementary levels.
Professional Distinction
I am a co-developer of a school counseling program, which earned RAMP recognition from the American School Counselor Association in 2008 for excellence in school counseling - an honor received by only one other middle school statewide.
I was also lead author and researcher for two original scientific studies published in The Journal of Obesity and Journal of Clinical Nursing.
The first study titled, Decreased Scholastic Achievement in Overweight Middle School Students was published in Obesity as well as cited in nearly 100 other scientific journals and was cited in an article that ran in the LA Times. The second study titled Step-Count Promotion Through a School-Based Intervention highlighted the effectiveness of using pedometers to promote physical activity among middle school students.
